Katt Williams Addressed Alleged Joke Theft and Confronted Cedric the Entertainer

Cedric the Entertainer was criticized by Katt Williams for allegedly stealing one of his best jokes.

On Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast on January 3, Williams criticized his fellow comedian, Cedric, for denying the joke theft on the same show in 2022. 

Williams told host Shannon Sharpe that he wanted to address the lies regarding him spread by “low-brow comedians” on Sharpe’s show, referring to Cedric, Harvey, and Smiley as a “gang.”

“They have been a group for 30 years. “These are not just three random guys,” Williams explained. “These dudes are all intertwined and share secrets, and this is the age of truth.”

Cedric the Entertainer was accused by Katt Williams of stealing a joke from his late-90s comedy set, which he also performed on the BET show ComicView.

He also responded to Cedric, who denied stealing the joke on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast in 2022. “He assumed I was some unknown comedian who could take this joke and no one would notice,” Williams explained. 

The problem was that I had already done this joke twice on BET’s ComicView. It did so well on BET’s ComicView that they included it in the commercial.” Williams went on to say more in the podcast.

Cedric came to The Comedy Store in 1998, and I am telling this joke. He notices me in the audience and comes backstage to tell me how good I did and how much he enjoys the joke. He is doing that as his last joke on The [Original] Kings of Comedy two years later, and he is doing it verbatim, he just changed my car into a spaceship.”

Although Cedric and Steve Harvey had previously apologized to him, Williams claimed that he became frustrated when Cedric went on the podcast and publicly denied the allegations of joke theft. “Why would you dismiss me like that?” “Why should I let you off the hook if you are going to lie?” Williams said. 

Cedric previously stated on the Club Shay Shay podcast in November 2022 that he thought Williams’ outrage was “ridiculous” and denied stealing one of the comedian’s jokes.  

At the time, Cedric stated. “This is some internet nonsense, and that is all I have to say, so, you know, when I responded to him, he did not respond to me, and I left it at that.”

Cedric responded to Williams’ claims in Club Shay Shay’s Instagram comment section after the latest podcast clips were shared on social media.

“And all that tough talk!” Cedric added. “It is corny, but I am a grown man. And none of it is going to go as planned. You do you, and I have got this over here.”
