Rihanna Wore $1.7 Million Of Diamonds For Super Bowl Performance
Rihanna stunned during her Super Bowl performance, and not only because she used it to announce her second pregnancy. The star was dripping with diamond for the performance -- $1.7 million worth, to be exact.
The singer was dressed in an Andre Leon Talley-inspired puffer coat with a matching red bodysuit designed by Loewe. The unique ensemble featured a glossy breastplate that highlighted her burgeoning bump. But it was Rihanna’s accessories that made the outfit even more glamorous (and expensive).
Her red, blinged-out watch from Jacob & Co. is reportedly worth $72,000. The piece included a diamond-encrusted bezel with 360 stones, totalling over 10 carats. The strap is also made from real alligator skin.
The most expensive part of her look was her stunning Bayco diamond ring, which is valued at $1 million, a representative from the brand revealed to Page Six.
Of the ring, the publication called it “a rare natural, unheated 19.47-carat sugarloaf cabochon Burma ruby and 5.66 carats of trillion-cut and round brilliant diamonds set in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold.”
Rihanna rocked even more diamonds on her ears, with a variety of earrings from Messika. One pair is valued around $12,000. She also had three vintage brooches encrusted with diamonds attached to her jumpsuit, which are likely worth $135,000, Page Six adds.
It’s unknown how much Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance cost, but it was clearly in the millions if her jewelry alone is worth well over six figures. One report says that a Super Bowl show can range from $10 to 20 million.
Despite the Super Bowl being such a big event, many fans may be surprised to know that Rihanna wasn’t paid for her performance.
In fact, none of the entertainers that performance at the annual event’s half-time are paid. The NFL will pay production cost for the gig (costing tens of millions), but they don’t pay a performance fee directly to the artist. For many entertainers, the exposure the Super Bowl performance makes it worth going sans a pay check.
Rihanna certainly used the performance to her advantage. She referenced her Fenty makeup brand several times during the show. At one point, she used a Fenty compact to check her makeup. She then applied the brand’s new “MVP” liquid lipstick, which cleverly launched right after the performance.
But nothing was bigger in Rihanna performance than the revelation she’s expecting again, less than a year after she welcomed a baby boy with ASAP Rocky.
