Taylor Kinney resurfaces on Instagram amid Chicago Fire renewal news

Taylor Kinney has broken his Instagram silence amid the news that Chicago Fire has been renewed for another season. 

The actor, who plays Lieutenant Kelly Severide in the drama, has kept a low profile on social media since it was announced that he would be taking a step back from his role on the popular procedural show. 

Taylor's girlfriend, Ashley Cruger, took to the social media website on Monday to share a series of snaps of the couple looking super loved up while celebrating the Easter holidays together.

Alongside three selfies of the pair, including one of them locking lips, the model wrote in the caption: "Happy Easter".

The post comes almost three months after it was announced that Taylor would be taking a temporary break from his role on to deal with a personal matter.

Fans will be pleased to see the new snap of Taylor, who has not commented on the reports or explained his absence further. 

Taylor's character, Lieutenant Severide, has since been written out of the show for season 11. The 41-year-old's last episode aired in March in a storyline that saw Severide leave the Windy City for a prestigious OFI training camp in Alabama. The show has not yet revealed when the actor will return.

Ashey's Instagram post comes amid the news that and have all been renewed for further seasons

Creator of the One Chicago franchise, Dick Wolf, said in a statement: "I'm pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC."

He added: "All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I'd also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons."
